Heroic Young Boy Saves Teen Girl From Being Abducted By Men

Police are praising a young Irish boy’s efforts in saving a teenage girl from an attempted abduction by three men in Co. Derry.

The boy, Tiernan McCready successfully helped save the 18-year-old from the crime after he saw the men grab her and pull her into a waiting van.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) have rewarded the boy for his heroism where others would have not known what to do.

The police wrote on the PSNI Foyle Facebook page, “Folks, this is Tiernan McCready. This is what a hero looks like. “Last week in the Bogside he saw three males grab an 18-year-old girl and try to get her in their van.

The post continued, “Most ADULTS would be paralysed in shock, confusion or fear and fail to act till it was too late”. ‘Our community owes this boy’

They wrote that Tiernan “reacted instantly” and shouted at the males involved in the crime before leading the girl away to safety. He then told his mother who reported the attempted crime to police.

“Let that sink in,” the post added. “This could have been the start of a potentially serious and harrowing crime. That girl could have been my child, my sister, your child, your family member.

“The Bogside, Brandywell, and The Fountain Neighbourhood Team presented Tiernan with a PSNI Badge of Honour (and some Malteasers). But this doesn’t go anywhere near to paying off the debt our community owes this boy. Our youngsters often get a bad rep but remember the vast majority are brave and big hearted just like Tiernan.”

This is an incredible unseen story of courage by Tiernan, no wonder the post is going viral on social media.

Verse of the Day

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
