Mark and Lindsey Lashley from Georgia celebrated the birth of their first child, Cason, on March 19. They wanted to share the joy, so Cason’s grandmother texted the family news. But, she accidentally sent it to a stranger, Dennis Williams.
Instead of ignoring the text, Dennis did something extraordinary. He and his brother showed up at the hospital with gifts for baby Cason. The Lashleys were so moved by their kind gesture, they thanked the brothers on social media. They praised their generosity, saying, “If we all only had this kind of heart.”
The fact that two strangers, who happened to be black, extended such warmth and love to a white family touched the hearts of many on the internet. It’s a beautiful example of how we can support each other, despite our differences.
Cason will grow up with a unique birth story. It’s about how a wrong text led to a lasting friendship between his family and two kind strangers.
God teaches us to love and care for one another, just as He does, without regard to our differences. Let us embrace every opportunity to show love, uniting us as God’s children.
