Important Life Lessons From The Woman With The Issue Of Blood

One of the most inspiring stories of healing in the Bible is the story of the woman with the issue of blood. This unique story can be found in the book of Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:24-34, and Luke 8:43-48.

In these verses, we see the love and care of our Lord Jesus extended in the life of this woman who has suffered a lot for twelve years with constant bleeding and how she was healed and restored back to good health.

Here are the life lessons we can learn from the story of the woman with the issue of blood:

1. With God all things are possible

This woman had suffered for many years and she must have gone to so many doctors for treatment with no positive results and even tried the traditional way to get herself cured but it didn’t work out. When she heard that Jesus was passing by close to where she was, she believed that with Jesus all things are possible and went to meet Him.

She believed that only God can heal her through His Son Jesus. For she said, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” Her belief brought healing to her. We ought to know that there is no impossibility with God, it doesn’t matter what you are going through right now, what matters is your mindset toward God. The Bible says in Mark 9:23 All things are possible to those who believe.

Put your trust in God and believe in His words, He will never forsake nor leave you, He will heal all your diseases and restore all the things you have lost in your life, only He can accomplish this in your life today.

2. Fight for your faith

The woman with the issue of blood did not stop at believing that God can heal her but she contended for what she believed in, by going after the man of God. As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed her Luke 8:42. This gives us a picture of what was going on in this place.

There were a lot of crowds around Jesus, they must have tried to stop her from getting closer to Him, she must have fallen down so many times, or heard a lot of discouraging voices from the crowd to stop her. But she didn’t give up, she pressed on toward Jesus, knowing that if she could only touch his robe that she would be healed, she had to fight her way through the crowd to get to Jesus.

Yes, we should pray, and sometimes it is necessary to wait for God’s timing. But many times we can find ourselves waiting and praying when it may be time to start moving in faith. That is what the woman with the issue of blood did. In the end, Jesus said to her “your faith has healed you” (Luke 8:48 NIV).

3. Keep on trying, don’t give up

Perhaps one of the most significant lessons we can learn from the woman with the issue of blood is to keep on trying and don’t give. The book of Matthew, Mark, and Luke found it important to write that she was suffering from her bleeding for twelve years!

Although she would spend money over and over but not get better, she kept trying. When she heard about Jesus, it comes as no surprise that she tried again. Her initial failed attempts did not discourage her and this time she got what she wanted.

Just like the woman with the issue of blood tried again despite her many failed attempts, we should try again when we fail. A failure doesn’t mean the thing we want isn’t possible or isn’t according to God’s will for us. It could mean that we are going about it the wrong way, bad timing, or one of the many potential factors out of our control. We just have to keep the faith and try again.

Verse of the Day

“So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.”

Luke 2:16-20
