A little boy’s funny take on “ladies first” has become a hit on social media. The video shows Liam, a young child, opening a door for a woman and saying “Ladies first.” When asked why he does this, Liam’s answer is priceless.
Liam says he learned about “ladies first” from someone named Hank. Then he drops this gem: “Hank says, ‘Ladies first,’ because the ladies don’t have much patience. The gentlemen do. The gentlemen have lots of patience.”
I couldn’t help but laugh when I heard that. Of course, we know patience isn’t really about gender, but Liam’s innocent explanation is just too cute.
It’s great to see a child trying to be polite, even if his reasoning is a bit off. It shows how kids pick up on what adults do and say, sometimes in unexpected ways.
The Bible tells us to treat everyone with kindness and respect, not just based on gender or in certain situations. In Philippians, Paul writes about putting others before ourselves. Liam’s attempt at being a gentleman reminds us of this important lesson.
Philippians 2:3-4, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.“
