The words and music of the song are by Kate & Miles Simmonds. ‘When I Was Lost’ is a song he first encountered in 2004, and it left a strong impression on his mind.

When I was lost You came and rescued me,
Reached down into the pit and lifted me.
O Lord, such love, I was as far from You as I could be.
You know all the things I’ve ever done,
But Jesus’ blood has cancelled every one.
O Lord, such grace to qualify me as Your own.

On his YouTube channel, he says, “It’s one of the clearest explorations of salvation, new life, and identity in Christ ever put to music!” This virtual choir version has 156 singers and ASL interpreters from 35 countries who had a few days to practice, record, and upload their parts.

There is a new song in my mouth,
There is a deep cry in my heart,
A hymn of praise to Almighty God, hallelujah!
And now I stand firm on this Rock,
My life is hidden now with Christ in God.
The old has gone and the new has come, hallelujah!
Your love has lifted me.

It’s such a blessing to listen to this virtual choir version of ‘When I Was Lost,’ we all can relate to the message of how the love of God saved us even when we were sinners.

Verse of the Day

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Luke 2:8-11
