Violinist Holds Concert for Lion, But She Wants to End the Show

Whales have songs and birds sing—but do wild animals like lions and tigers enjoy music?

Apparently not, because one lioness got so irritated by a violinist’s performance that she tried to attack him.

At the Oklahoma City Zoo, a lioness was not impressed by violinist Kyle Dillingham’s attempt to serenade her. As soon as he began playing near the lion enclosure, the lioness leapt at the glass, clearly agitated and wanting him to stop.

Kyle began to sing and frantically play his violin, but it only seemed to rile her up more. The lioness lunged repeatedly at the thick glass wall separating them. In a surprising twist, Kyle then started running alongside the enclosure as the lioness chased from the other side—glass thankfully in between.

When he finally wrapped up the performance, the lioness stopped. Kyle made his exit with a smile and said, “It is true that music can sooth the savage beast… but perhaps not until after a dance!”

If Kyle had been inside that enclosure with her, only God knows what would have happened. Still, it makes for a hilarious and strangely adorable video to start the day with.
