It is not every day that one sees heroes in action. A toddler was saved from death through this “heroic act on the roadside”. This was her second shot at life, all thanks to these brave and concerned citizens.
This toddler’s parents were surely very grateful to these two great men who helped them. Their child was relieved and saved from death due to choking. This incident took place at Interstate 95 near El Portal, Florida. Everything was recorded and shown through the Dashboard camera of the patrol car.
Florida trooper Mathieu immediately responded to the scene when he saw that there was a commotion on the side of the road. The parents were so worried and desperate to help their child breathe. Another concerned citizen came to help and lent his anti-choking device. Together, they worked on reviving the girl. “Trooper Mathieu’s first aid training immediately kicked in as he jumped into action, performing a series of back blows until the toddler regained consciousness,” FHP Miami reported.
Thankfully, the child was revived and eventually, regained consciousness. This “heroic act on the roadside” saved the tot and gave great relief to her parents as well. The help came at the right time. If they arrived several minutes later, this could cause her greater harm.
Trooper Mathieu recently responded to an emergency involving a 1 year old toddler who was unresponsive on I-95.

First-aid training and the impulse to serve will always come in handy for unexpected emergencies like this. Just like the trooper and stranger, it is best to be ready at all times to offer a helping hand. One will never know when a random act of kindness can give someone another chance in life.
“Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say, “Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.” Proverbs 3:27-28
