A woman miraculously walked away unharmed after a massive tree crushed the back seat of her SUV in Pennsylvania.
Sometimes life gives us sudden reminders of how fragile our time on Earth really is. We plan our days, run our errands, and drive familiar roads, not knowing what might unfold next.
But even in these unpredictable moments, we can trust that God watches over us. His protection isn’t always loud or seen. Sometimes it’s simply a door we can still open or a step we’re still able to take.
Surveillance video from a Karco gas station on Lenape Road captured the heart-stopping moment. The tree fell across the rear of the SUV, crushing the back seat just moments after the driver had stopped at a red light.
The woman, in shock but unharmed, was seen opening the door and walking toward another vehicle in front of her. She appeared dazed, holding her head as she approached the other driver.
The top of the tree shattered across the parking lot, leaving debris scattered everywhere.
John De Bow, who witnessed the event from the roof of the gas station across the street, was inspecting an HVAC unit when he heard the cracking sound. “She almost died. It was inches away from her death,” De Bow said.
“I heard cracking, and then I looked over and I saw it starting to fall.”
He feared it might even reach him from across the street. The trunk exploded on impact with the pavement, and crews were quickly dispatched to clean up the aftermath.
De Bow mentioned that the fallen tree had appeared dead and feared others nearby could pose similar dangers. “If you look at these other trees up here, they’re all dead, ready to fall down,” he added, pointing to the row of lifeless trees.
This incredible escape reminds us how quickly our lives can change, but also how closely God stays beside us. When we come face to face with danger, it’s His grace that often holds us steady.
