Weather Forecaster Shoots Back With Epic Reply When She Was Body Shamed

When a weather forecaster was subjected to body shaming, she shot back with an epic reply.

28-year-old, Tracy Hinson, a meteorologist for KSDK, in St Louis, says she loves her cheese and carbs. Although she doesn’t look like she has any problem with body weight, she received a nasty email from one of her viewers.

“[D]o you ever watch yourself giving the weather report?” the email began, according to an Instagram post from Hinson. “Seems that you need a girdle for the stomach overhang which shortens the front of your dresses!”

The person even went so far as to say that Hinson was a repeat offender. “[T]oday was not the first time I have noticed this,” the viewer said. “Maybe you should wear a top that covers the bulge in your stomach.”

Even if the viewer thought they were helping Hinson by writing her the email, they had no business fat shaming her. So Hinson decided deal with that hurtful comment in a good-humored way.

She said that female TV personalities “get comments like that all the time.” But what saddened was that the viewer had “grandma” in her email address, making Hinson wonder what sort of comments she might be giving her own family members.

“Some people online comment with [things] like, ‘It’s jealousy’ or ‘It comes from people not being confident in themselves,’” Hinson said. She added, “Sometimes I think that people look at people on TV and think that they’re not real, and they can say things like that.”

Hinson took to Instagram to post photos of herself in a red dress with a tiny stomach visible, and wrote a message for “Mary.” The post read, “Dear Mary, yes I do watch my air checks,” she began. “NO I will not be strapping myself into a girdle because you don’t like my belly.”

She added, “I like pasta, bread and cheese too much to obsess over my weight. I like my body and that’s all that really matters.” She said, “It can only suck in so much,” she said, referring to her stomach.

Hinson said, “I’m just trying to do the weather, people,” she added, “I’m not a model. I’m not an actress. I’m just doing my job.”

It’s so sad what our TV and film personalities have to go through when they’re just doing their job. We need to be kind to one another and help each other, not judge people because of the way they look.

Verse of the Day

“Of David. Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—”
