Trimble County High School junior Brett Liter faced a classic high school dilemma: how to ask a schoolmate to prom in a memorable way. Having already been on a date with her, he knew the importance of making this invitation special.
“I had to think of something real quick and that’s about the fastest thing I could because I’m not very good at writing on a poster,” Liter said.
“I’m probably better at plowing in a field than I am writing on a poster, I tell you, it’s hard to say no, but if she did, I’d probably be out there until midnight plowing to cover it up.”
Drawing on his skills as a member of the Future Farmers of America, Liter came up with a unique idea: he would use his tractor-driving abilities to carve out a message in a nearby field. With precision and care, he plowed out the simple question, “prom?” in the earth.
And, of course, she said yes.
