Third-graders And 95-Year-Old Veteran Shares Unlikely Beautiful Friendship

An unusual friendship has blossomed between third graders from central Iowa and a 95-year-old World War II Veteran.

Last fall, Mr. Nidey’s class at Crestview School of Inquiry had a surprise volunteer, a 95-year-old World War II veteran Elaine Hamilton.

The class became so close to Hamilton, that whenever he could not make it to school, they would daily Facetime him to keep in touch.

This is such an unusual friendship that has blossomed between the third-grade class and their favorite volunteer in Eric Hanson’s “This is Iowa.”

Verse of the Day

“Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.””

Luke 2:28-32
