Sole Survivor of The Nelons Delivers Powerful Message and Performance After Plane Crash

On August 6, friends and family gathered at Roopville Road Baptist Church in Georgia to remember and honor three members of the beloved Gospel group The Nelons, along with others who died in a plane crash on July 26.

The Nelons, a group many of us have listened to and loved for years, lost three of its members in a terrible accident. Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, their daughter Amber Nelon Kistler, and Amber’s husband Nathan Kistler were on their way to sing at a special cruise when their plane crashed. The pilots, Larry and Melissa Haynie, and the group’s helper, Melodi Hodges, also died.

This sad news has shaken many, especially those who love Gospel music. The Nelons have been sharing God’s love through their songs for a long time. Their voices brought joy and comfort to so many people.

Autumn Nelon Streetman, the only member of The Nelons who wasn’t on the plane, is now facing a future she never expected. But Autumn’s faith is shining brightly through this dark time.

At the memorial service, Autumn spoke from her heart. She told everyone how her life changed in just three minutes. “In a matter of three minutes, my entire life changed. My precious family, my friends, my livelihood — gone, with no warning.” Autumn said.

Many might struggle to find hope during such a tragedy, but Autumn chose to lean on her faith in God. She said, “My choice is to trust Him fully.” She’s pregnant, and her baby boy will never meet his grandparents or aunt on this side of heaven. But Autumn believes God is still in control.

During the service, Autumn joined another Gospel group, The Isaacs, to sing a song called ‘Family Chain’. This song talks about how we’ll see our loved ones again in heaven.

Autumn told that she believes God has given her a special job now. She said, “God has entrusted me with a legacy to carry on. And I will seek His will and guidance.” It’s not going to be easy, but she’s determined to follow God’s plan for her life. Her strength and faith are truly inspiring.

When bad things happen, it’s normal to ask why. But Autumn reminds us of something important from the Bible. She said, “Every day, I’ve asked God why this happened, and then I’m reminded that He told us, ‘In this world we would have trouble.'”

The Nelons touched so many lives with their gospel music. They may be gone, but their songs and their faith will continue to inspire people. Through Autumn, their legacy will live on. She’s carrying their love for God and music forward, even as she prepares to become a mother herself.

Let’s pray for Autumn, her baby, and everyone who’s hurting because of this loss. May they feel God’s love surrounding them and giving them peace.
