Terminally Ill Man With Just Days To Live, Renews Wedding Vows With Wife In Emotional Ceremony

A terminally ill man has renewed his marriage vows with his wife of 12 years, with only a few days left for him to live.

Tony Leonard of Fayetteville, North Carolina, has been battling cancer since 2012, with the warrior even defeating it once, but now as the end approaches, his wife, Christy and he have a few days of togetherness together before they say their final goodbyes.

Christ has her own blog where she writes, “I’m not ready to say goodbye” and she writes, ” We now know we are looking at days,” and adds, “…when you get to heaven, my love, save a place for me…”

Brooke Tedder, Tony’s hospice nurse, helped make it possible for them to take their vows again, she said, “We lost our son to lung cancer eight years ago,” Tedder shared. She said she was happy to pin a boutonniere onto Tony, since she would never get to do so with her own son. So, with tears in their eyes, the loving couple, along with their family and friends present, renewed their wedding vows in the most adorable fashion.

Tony stood for the entire ceremony, holding Christy’s hands and kissing her tenderly, even though his condition was not good, Christy said, “How about cheers to eternity? You save me a place, you hear me?” There was wedding cake and photographs too and Christy even declared that Tony is the “love of her life.”

She wrote on her blog, “For now, I will dry my eyes, go lay in his arms, and kiss him, tell him I love him… and enjoy it.”
