Natasha Long thought it would be a typical trip to the Taco Bell drive-thru in Pennsylvania. She pulled up with her 11-month-old son, Myles, ready to grab a quick bite. But then, everything changed.
Natasha noticed Myles became unresponsive and stopped breathing. She saw him turning blue and “lifeless.” In that frantic moment, Natasha didn’t know what to do.
Thankfully, Becky Arbaugh, the manager on duty at the Pennsylvania Taco Bell, emerged as a hero. Hearing Natasha’s frantic cries, Becky sprang into action.
“I heard someone scream,” Becky said, recalling the event. “I heard a scream and then someone yelled out, ‘call 911 the baby isn’t breathing!'” She threw her headset off and ran outside.
Becky, a mother of four herself, knew exactly what to do in this critical situation. She immediately began performing CPR on the infant. Her quick thinking and CPR skills proved lifesaving, as she was able to revive Myles.
Myles is recovering well, although he will need surgery to prevent this happen again. This unexpected incident has also created an unlikely friendship between Natasha and Becky forever.
Today, Natasha is thanking God for placing Becky at the right place at the right time: “I think I’m going to look back and be like, ‘thank God Becky was there.’”
Let’s remember to thank God for the people He places in our lives, and let us all be willing to be instruments of His love and compassion in the world.
