Despite initial skepticism from judge Simon Cowell about her song choice, Sydnie’s performance changed his mind and earned high praise from all judges.

During the ITV show’s 17th series debut, 28-year-old Sydnie revealed she had moved from Kent to London and currently works at a gym with aspirations to perform on the West End.

Simon Cowell, moved by the audience’s reaction and Sydnie’s vocal control, admitted, “Everyone’s aware it’s tough to get that break for something which you really love. You so deserve what you just got. Your control was amazing,” and concluded, “I used to hate that song and now I absolutely love it.”

Fellow judge Amanda Holden was equally impressed. She was moved to press the golden buzzer, propelling Sydnie straight to the semifinals, and noted, “What struck me so much about you is just how naturally funny, how warm, how brilliant your presence was the minute you walked on the stage. How you were entertaining everyone but then you brought us the most heartfelt, beautiful version of that song.”

In this performance, Sydnie’s vocal control and the way she expresses it is absolutely incredible, and this brought both the audience and the judges to their feet.

Sydnie’s performance not only secured her a spot in the semifinals but also a chance at the series’ £250,000 cash prize and a performance at the Royal Variety Performance.

Verse of the Day

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
