Fatherhood is one of the noblest responsibilities a man has. It is not just about providing for a family but also giving kids their identity. These three young adults’ reactions were priceless when they received their greatest gift from their dad, their adoption papers.
This loving dad has been married to his wife for 18 years. He helped his wife raise her three kids who are now young adults. Their mom captured this precious, moving moment when they received their priceless gift.
They were asked to open letters. They opened them simultaneously. Each was shocked and overwhelmed with emotions upon reading the letter. They could not utter a word, totally surprised for a few seconds.
The stepdad’s son was the first to approach his dad and he gave him a tight hug. The two other girls were in tears and gave their dad and brother a warm hug as well. This family ended up in a big, tight, warm embrace. Everyone was in tears, including their dad. These were tears of joy for being adopted, included, and officially becoming their dad’s own.
God called us his own when he adopted us as his sons and daughters. This was made possible through what Jesus did on the cross for us. One can freely call him, Abba! Father! Pretty much like how someone usually calls his father. Fathers are called papa, dad, dada, etc. which shows that they have a personal connection to their kids.
We were given a new identity as sons and daughters of the Most High. One can always come to Him as a child and approach Him without hesitation. Earthly fathers may at times be not available or may have fallen short of their kids’ expectations, but be assured that Abba, our perfect “Father”, will never fail us.
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. Formerly, when you did not know God, you were enslaved to those that by nature are not gods.” Galatians 4:4-8
