Southern Raised, have done a beautiful rendition of David Phelp’s award winning “Heaven’s Shore/Shenandoah.” The trio are trained in classical music and have a typical southern upbringing in the bluegrass soaked Ozark Mountains.
David Phelps’ “Heaven’s Shore/Shenandoah” is a beautiful medley of both the songs, he has taken “Shenandoah” and added new words to it along with a new chorus which has resulted in a wonderful hymn-like song.
To Heaven’s shore, I journey onward
Across the rolling river
To Heaven’s shore, I journey onward
Away, I’m bound away
Cross the Jordan riverOn Heaven’s shore, I’ll see my loved ones
Oh the tearful glad reunion
On Heaven’s shore, I’ll see my loved ones
And we will part no more
We will part no more
Southern Raised have done a great cover of this song and have a new sound in their music as classical music meets bluegrass. No wonder their past music has received various music nominations from Diamond Awards, Band of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Christian Country Album of the Year, etc.,
As we listen to this song and join in worshipping, we are reminded of the day when we will all be reunited with our savior- Jesus Christ. Oh what a wonderful day that will be for us when we will again meet all our late family members on Heaven’s Shore. Amen.
