The Bible teaches us a sobering truth: “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). But God, in His mercy, didn’t leave us in this hopeless state. Jesus changed everything through His sacrifice on the cross. He took our death upon Himself and gave us the precious gift of eternal life.
When we put our faith in Christ, we become new creations. As 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!“
Baptism is a beautiful picture of this transformation. Going down into the water shows our old self being washed away. Coming up represents rising as new creations in Christ.
