A loving son surprised his hardworking mother by paying off her mortgage and this heartwarming story left many in tears.
André Williams up watching his mom Tracy Gathers-Williams work multiple jobs to support their family. Her dedication made a big impact on him.
André learned the value of hard work from her example and put it into practice in his own life. “Anyone who knows me knows that I am a workaholic. In college I had two jobs. Post-college, working at Microsoft I still worked at Delta Airlines as well. I still bartended as crazy as it sounds.”
André wanted to show his appreciation for his mother’s years of sacrifice. He decided to pay off her mortgage – a financial burden she had carried for years.
To surprise her, André came up with a clever plan. He asked Tracy for a copy of her mortgage statement, pretending he wanted to compare it to his own. Once he knew how much she owed, he started saving money to pay it off.
André had hoped to surprise his mom in person. But when a hurricane threatened his travel plans, he had to change course. Instead, he made a heartfelt video message.
He asked his sister to help with the surprise. She played the video for their mom, where André said, “This envelope is the check and the receipt to no more mortgage payments for you. You now own your home. Congratulations!”
Tracy was overwhelmed with emotion when she heard the news. Tears of joy and gratitude rolled down her face as she realized what her son had done for her.
Later, André talked about his huge surprise to his mom, ‘I never thought I’d see the day.'”
André’s gift was a way to show love and thanks for all his mom’s hard work over the years. “Mom has always been an extremely hard worker. Two jobs, three jobs like it was just a lot of relief for her to just be free I guess in a sense of not having that burden anymore.”
