School Admins Announces Snow Day With Epic Version Of ‘Hallelujah’

Swartz Creek Community Schools Superintendent and Principal put on quite a show to announce snow day, the video has garnered more than 400,000 views online.

Superintendent Ben Mainka and Principal Jim Kitchen have a background in singing and sang Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah with some of their own lyrics.

In the hilarious video, Mainka can be heard saying, ‘I know that one of the things that’s been happening which is an epidemic across our country is that superintendents and other administrators are coming up with ridiculous songs,  and they’re playing music and putting on sunglasses on and making absolute fools of themselves trying to cancel school for a snow day.’

Suddenly the music begins to play, and Kitchen jumps in saying, ‘Let me reiterate we are not going to humiliate ourselves by singing a snowday song,’ he said. Mainka adds, ‘I honestly don’t know what happened. I can’t stand it when people sing about snow days!’

Once again the music starts and the duo put on their sunglasses and begin to croon.  At the end of the video, Mainka says, ‘For the safety of our students and staff, we are going to be canceling school tomorrow. Please be safe and stay warm.’
