A reporter covering a viral half-court shot story at a Kansas high school accidentally pulled off the same incredible feat himself, leaving everyone stunned.
In life, God often reminds us that the unexpected can happen when we step forward in faith. Sometimes it takes only a small action to see something remarkable unfold, showing us His goodness in ways we could never plan. These moments encourage us to trust Him, even in the ordinary.
In 2010, at Olathe Northwest High School in Kansas, basketball coach Joel Branstrom made an astonishing blindfolded half-court shot after students jokingly promised him NCAA Final Four tickets if he succeeded.
They had planned to cheer either way, assuming he would miss, but his 47-foot shot found the basket and became a national story, topping ESPN’s ‘SportsCenter’ Top 10 countdown.
During the coverage of this event, Fox local news reporter Rob Low visited the school to report on the viral moment. While filming, Low casually lobbed a ball over his head from half-court—and it swished straight through the net.
The cameraman, surprised, said, “Put that in the story, too.” Low, laughing in disbelief, asked, “Are you kidding me?” and made sure it was caught on tape.
Two impossible shots, on the same court, caught and celebrated.
