On July 26, 2024, Jason Clark, Kelly Nelon Clark, and their daughter Amber Nelon Kistler tragically passed away in a plane crash. The group was traveling to perform on the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska when the single-engine plane they were on crashed in a remote area of Campbell County, Wyoming.

The crash, which occurred around 1:00 p.m., also claimed the lives of Amber’s husband Nathan Kistler, their assistant Melodi Hodges, and the plane’s pilot and co-pilot, Larry and Melissa Haynie. An auto-pilot issue is believed to have caused the accident, leading to a fiery crash that started a wildland fire at the scene.

The Nelons were widely admired in the gospel music world, with a legacy that includes induction into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame and multiple Dove Awards. They recently won the Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song Of The Year in 2021 for ‘If God Pulled Back the Curtain.’

Autumn Nelon Streetmen, Kelly and Jason’s youngest daughter, was not on the flight and shared her grief in a heartfelt statement. She expressed gratitude for the prayers and support from the community during this difficult time.

The Nelons had just announced new music set to release at the end of August.

Their performance of ‘Scars In Heaven’ continues to touch hearts, especially now, as it reminds us of the hope and comfort found in faith.

As we remember Jason, Kelly, and Amber, we celebrate their contributions to gospel music and the joy they brought to their fans. Their voices may be silenced, but their legacy of faith and music lives on.

Verse of the Day

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Luke 2:8-11
