Struggling Single Mom With Sick Son Is Surprised By Radio Station

Life was pretty hard for single mother, Rebecca Polston, and getting past every day was a battle of strength and courage.

Her 2-year-old son, Rhylon, was on dialysis since he was just 1 month old. He was fighting against kidney disease and had to undergo this process for ten hours every night, with Rebecca by his side.

He will need to go through this process till he gets a kidney transplant. Rebecca has been out of her job because of his medical condition, and relies heavily on her car to carry her back and forth.

However tragedy struck this summer and Rebecca’s car was totaled by a hit and run driver. With just liability insurance and no job, Rebecca did not have the funds to put together for a car, and the future looked bleak for this family, until a radio station heard about her story.

Rebecca and Rhylon were invited to dinner at a restaurant in Roanoke, Texas, and they were completely in the dark about what KLTY 94.9 had in store for them.

They finished off their meal and were brought to the parking lot, where they met Bonnie Curry and the #SpeakLove team: staff from the station, who were all about doing good deeds for people in their community.

They presented this family with a check of $1,000 as well as with new toys for Rhylon—but that was not all.

George Grubbs, the owner of a local INFINITI dealership who was also present there, handed over a set of keys and a brand new car—silver, topped with a red ribbon, and completely paid for.

From then onwards, life has never been the same for Rebecca, she has been able to meet all of Rhylon’s needs, including an emergency hospital visit.

The 94.9 KLTY team has shared a post about it on Facebook, and have received a flood of support for the Polston family. God bless their hearts.

Verse of the Day

“While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.”
