Four police officers from Huntsville’s The Blue Notes 5 lifted their voices in an inspiring a cappella performance of ‘The Old Ship of Zion.’
We often see police officers maintaining law and order, writing tickets, or chasing criminals. But there are officers who make their faith a priority no matter where they go or what they do. These officers from The Blue Notes 5 show us that even in a demanding profession, we can find ways to praise God.
The Blue Notes 5 started bringing gospel music to Huntsville in 2005. The group includes Eric Newby, Gerald Johnson, Willie Jordan, Thomas Kelly, Jeffery Rice, and Charles Draper. They sing at local churches, community events, and special occasions throughout the year. In this performance, four members stood proud in their police uniforms and created beautiful harmonies using just their voices. Without instruments, their powerful vocals filled the room with praise.
These officers show us something special – they protect our community and praise God with the same dedication. During their workday, they keep our streets safe. During worship, they use their voices to bring glory to God. It’s a powerful reminder that we can serve the Lord in many ways.
May their example inspire us to praise God wherever we go, just as these officers do. In our busy lives, we too can find moments to worship Him, whether at work, home, or in public. These officers show us that no schedule is too packed to pause and lift our voices in praise. Let’s remember that every place can become a sanctuary when we choose to honor God with our gifts.
