Our police officers often go above and beyond to help people in need but not all that they do is shared on social media. But this kind act of an Absecon, NJ police officer for elderly citizens is attracting a lot of attention online.
Ptlm. Byrd was on duty while conducting a beach run when he witnessed a young granddaughter and her grandparents walking off the beach.
What moved Ptlm. Byrd was that they seemed to be having difficulty pulling their stuff through the soft sand.
He decided to step up and got out of his vehicle to help the family get off of the hot Jersey beach. For many, it would seem like a small act of kindness but there is no such thing as small or big acts, they all show how kind and thoughtful our police are.
The department said in a statement, “Ptlm. Byrd was conducting a beach run and observed a young granddaughter with her grandparents walking off the beach. Ptlm. Byrd saw they were having difficulty pulling their belongings through the soft sand. Ptlm. Byrd took the time to get out of his vehicle and assist the family off of the beach. Thank you Ptlm. Byrd for your great act of kindness,” the department said.

What a kind act by Ptlm. Byrd, we are sure those grandparents will never forget what he did for them throughout their lives. Let us pray for the safety and peace of our police officers as they continue to put their lives at risk while protecting all of us.
