Police Officer Buys Groceries For Lonely Elderly Woman Who Can’t Leave Home

It is not normal to see cops going beyond their call-of-duty to help out ordinary people, but this police officer in California really went above and beyond.

Officer Alvarez of Benica Police Department received a call from an out-of-town family who were worried about an elderly family member who was at home alone and not taking their calls.

He responded to the call on October 29 and went to personally check on the woman, who was fine.

Officer Alvarez again recently went back to check on her, and see if she needed anything. The lady is on a wheelchair and receives meals-on-wheels a few times a week, and needed some additional items.

He went to the nearby grocery store and did some ‘little extra’ shopping for her and dropped it at her residence. He used his own money and picked up “Milk, eggs, oatmeal, cereal, Ritz crackers, cream of chicken soups, and a few other items.”

When he went to her home with the supplies, he said she was “extremely thankful and surprised that I was willing to help her.”

We salute this kindhearted Police Officer who is winning hearts with his generosity.
