It is a stunning arrangement especially with a scenic background setting. In this video, their youngest son Christian gets to sing a solo part on this gospel classic, which sounds awesome.

On Christ The Solid Rock I Stand hymn story

‘On Christ The Solid Rock I Stand’ is a Christian hymn written by Edward Mote, pastor at Rehoboth Baptist Church in Horsham, West Sussex. He wrote around 100 hymns, but this one written in 1834, is the most popular of all.

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

The hymn was published in many hymn collections before being attributed to Edward Mote in a collection of 100 of his hymns published in 1837.

The refrain of ‘My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less’ is built around the Parable of the Wise and the Foolish Builders and talks about Christ being our rock with a basis in Scripture (1 Corinthians 10:4).

On Christ the Solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

The hymn became very popular and was interpreted in many languages and covered by many artists around the globe.

When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

The Allens singing this song today is so apt for our times where we are reminded to build our lives on Christ for all other ground are sinking sand.

Verse of the Day

“For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves.”
