Olympic kite surfer Bruno Lobo, who finished seventh in the 2024 Paris Olympics for Brazil, became a real-life hero when he rescued a drowning woman from the ocean.
At times, we may feel like all hope is lost, and we’ve reached the end of the road. We might be admitting our defeat, but behind the scenes our loving God is working out His perfect plan for us.

On January 10, 2024, Bruno Lobo, an orthopedic doctor and Olympic athlete, went out to test his new camera equipment.
The weather wasn’t great, but he decided to go anyway. Little did he know that God had a bigger plan for him that day.
As he sailed a few meters into the water, he heard someone crying for help. Looking around, he spotted a young woman struggling in the strong current.
Without hesitation, he steered his kite toward her. “I quickly approached her with the kite, I tried to calm her down and asked to climb on my back,” Lobo said. The woman was tired and had almost lost all her strength.
The rescue was caught on Lobo’s camera, showing us exactly what happened. The woman was barely keeping her head above water when he reached her. But Lobo knew exactly what to do.
Lobo kept his kite steady in the wind and helped her climb onto his back. Then he used his kite surfing skills to bring them both safely back to shore.
When they reached the beach, lifeguards rushed to help the exhausted woman. Her friends were waiting anxiously on the shore. The woman gave Lobo a grateful hug, a simple gesture that showed just how much his help meant to her.
Later, she wrote on his Instagram post, “Words can’t describe my gratitude! It was the salvation that God and my guides sent to me. I really could not handle it if I spent five minutes on the high sea, even knowing how to swim.”
Lobo shared the video on Instagram with a message that touched many hearts. “The day that God used me as an instrument to save this young woman, all honor and glory to Him,” he wrote.
Even though he’s an Olympic athlete with gold medals from the 2019 and 2023 Pan American Games, he stayed humble about what he did, saying, “I only did what needed to be done and what was within my reach!”
The experience led Lobo to warn others about ocean safety. He explained that even good swimmers should be careful about going too far from shore. “The tide can pull you out to sea,” he said, speaking from what he had just witnessed.
God placed Bruno Lobo in that exact spot for a reason. He used Lobo’s skills as a kite surfer, his quick thinking, and even his new camera equipment to save a life and remind us of His faithfulness.
