‘I Was Telling Jesus To Save Me’: God Sends Off-Duty Officer To Rescue 11-Year-Old Boy From Dog Attack

The Bible speaks of God being our ever-present help in times of need. He is the One we can run to and ask for help any time, any day, anywhere we are.

A harmless session of playing in the backyard of his apartment complex turned into a life-threatening situation for 11-year-old Bramwell Rodriguez-Rojas.

The young boy was playing as usual when suddenly he was attacked by two dogs. “I heard a bark and then I turned around and started screaming,” the poor boy recalled. “I put my arm in my face and then everything just started to happen.”

All Bramwell could think of was crying out to God to save his life, “I was crying and telling Jesus to save me,” he says. Just then an off-duty police officer turned up when he heard the boy’s screams.

The officer raced into the yard, firing his gun to scare off the dogs. “Then he put his arm on my chest and he was seeing that I kept breathing,” Bramwell explained. “He was telling me to stay with him and I tried my hardest to not close my eyes.”

Bramwell Rodriguez-Rojas had suffered bites to his neck, arm, and legs and it could have been severe if not for God who sent the off-duty police officer at the right time.

The family of the 11-year-old is calling the man their “guardian angel.” His mother, Georgia Rojas says, “I know that God performs miracles,” she says, “He was instrumental in the hands of God, in giving my son the help he so desperately called for in that moment.”

Bramwell Rodriguez-Rojas has had several surgeries, one of which was six hours long, stitches and bandages covered his small body. But even then the little boy is in good spirits and credits God for the miracle. “I know I was protected by angels and everything,” he says.

Now after a week in the hospital, Bramwell has gone home and he and his family are grateful to God and to the community that’s rallied to offer support. A GoFundMe Page has raised more than $30,000 to help with the medical costs for the young boy.

Psalm 91:14-16 (God) – “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honour him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

Verse of the Day

“Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.””
