Critical Care Nurse Pays Moving Tribute To Front-line NHS Staff By Singing ‘Rise Up’

Hospital staff across the world have been the real heroes of 2020, fighting bravely against the coronavirus pandemic on all our behalf. Now one critical care nurse is bringing joy to hospital staff on the front-line with her vocal and piano performance.

NHS nurse Hannah sings a cover of Andra Day’s anthem, ‘Rise Up’ to her colleagues at Royal Papworth Hospital Charity in Cambridge to encourage them as they treat patients during the pandemic.

The uplifting clip was shared online by the Cambridge hospital, with a caption saying:

“One of our Critical Care superstars inspired her colleagues as she played the piano. Thank you Hannah for this beautiful reminder of perseverance and hope for all the NHS staff in the fight against COVID-19.”

Hannah’s sister, Joy Gingell, took to Facebook to share the video saying, “We love our NHS 💙💙 She doesn’t know I’m posting this but I was sent this today by my beautiful sister who is training as a nurse in the critical care unit at the Royal Papworth Hospital.

“During one of her breaks she went downstairs to play this on the piano and has called it: “We’ll Rise Up: a song from the NHS to the public” and one of her colleagues asked her to film it.”

Gingell continued: “She is an example of one of the millions of positive, beautiful people working hard at this incredibly difficult time and hopefully this video will put a smile on your face and bring a bit of hope and positivity.

“Here is a reminder to keep spreading the love at this terribly stressful time! Share around because I think everyone should see this. We’ll rise up!!”

What a beautiful uplifting performance by Hannah at a time when many other doctors and A&E nurses are also displaying their musical talents to inspire hospital staff on the front-lines.
