The elderly woman identified as Nola was working for $19 an hour at Walmart just so that she could pay the mortgage on her house.

Devan uploaded the 15 second video clip with the caption, “Life shouldn’t be this hard,” and received an overwhelming response from people and spurred him to set up the donation page which raised over $100,000 in just 24 hours having surpassed the initial goal of $10,000.

He also shared a follow-up video of him meeting up the old woman to transfer the money, a total of $110K.

The woman was grateful for the help but said she needed another $60K to pay off the mortgage completely. “I’d accept it, but I’d still have to work until I get the other $60,000 paid off the house.” This meant that she had to work for several years more.

However she did not have to because the donations kept coming in and crossed more than $170k. Nola was finally able to get her house paid off. Devan’s kind gesture and the donations of people was finally able to help Nola retire comfortably.
