Anna is a talented singer and also a piano player, she writes on her YouTube page, about how she suffers from anxiety but always feels a sense of calm when she prays to God.

Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee! E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me,

Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!

Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down, Darkness be over me, my rest a stone;

Yet in my dreams I’d be nearer, my God, to Thee. There let the way appear, steps unto Heav’n;

All that Thou sendest me, in mercy giv’n; Angels to beckon me nearer, my God, to Thee.

“I’ve struggled with anxiety for as long as I can remember,” Anna shares. “I would be sitting in my room, talking to my mom, or even doing something as simple as going up to answer the front door when all of the sudden I would burst into tears and go into panic mode. If I was ever late for class, I just wouldn’t go at all. The thought of walking into class late in front of all my classmates freaked me out.”

It’s her faith that helps her through her anxious feelings. “During all my times of distress, my mother taught me to drop to my knees and pray. Pray, pray, pray. That was the only thing that could calm me down,” she explains. “In those dark and dreary moments, I felt a sense of security and love from our Savior Jesus Christ and our loving Father in Heaven. Even though anxiety still haunts me, a loving Savior holds my hand and helps me through every single time. I feel nearer to God during those countless struggles and countless prayers.”

Having faith in God helps you to overcome fear and gain strength from the Lord to face every situation with boldness. It has worked for Anna Richey and will also for you.

Verse of the Day

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
