A powerful revival swept through Mississippi State University as nearly 6,000 students gathered for a night of worship, prayer, and spiritual transformation on October 1st.

God is moving in amazing ways across our nation, especially among young people. We’re seeing a wave of revivals and baptisms on college campuses. It’s like a spiritual awakening is spreading through this generation. Many believers feel this could be the start of something big – maybe even the revival we’ve been praying for.

The event, called Unite US, happened at Humphrey Coliseum on the Mississippi State campus. Unite US is a group that brings college students together to worship Jesus. They’ve been organizing similar events at other universities over the past year. Their goal is simple: share the Gospel with students and “lift the name of Jesus.”

Students said the atmosphere that night felt “like Heaven.” They worshipped together, prayed, confessed sins, and many chose to be baptized. It was clear God was touching hearts and changing lives.

Unite US shared on Instagram: “Jesus met us tonight in Humphrey Coliseum. Nearly 6,000 students worshipped together, confessed to sin that had been holding them back, and experienced freedom that can only be found in Him.” They were excited about every student who took a step toward Jesus that night, believing it was just the beginning.

Jennie Allen, who is the author of some bestselling books and founder of IF:Gathering, spoke at the event. Pastor Jonathan Pokluda from Harris Creek Baptist Church in Waco, Texas also shared a message. They encouraged students to give everything to Jesus. Lindy Cofer, a worship artist, led everyone in singing praises to God.

One student named Emma decided to get baptized. She said, “I just feel like this is something I have been wanting to do for a long time. I kept telling myself I needed a perfect scenario to do it and I don’t think that I do. I just need to surrender myself and do it.” Her words showed how many students felt that night – ready to take a big step in their faith.

Another student simply said, “Such a great night experiencing God’s love at work.”

This revival at Mississippi State is part of something bigger happening on college campuses across the country. Just a week before, 10,000 students from 67 different universities gathered at the University of Arkansas for a similar event. Unite US called that night unforgettable, saying Jesus was there and His presence was strong during the baptisms.

These campus revivals started with a big worship event at Auburn University in September 2023. That night, 5,000 students came to worship Jesus, and 200 were baptized on the spot. Since then, more and more campuses have joined in.

Tonya Prewett, an evangelist, says over 2,000 people have came to salvation and more than 800 have been baptized at Unite US events in the past year.

Prewett believes this is just the start. “I believe this is the generation that will usher in the greatest move of God we’ve ever seen, and we’re seeing that,” Prewett said on a podcast. She thinks even bigger things are coming, especially as we get closer to 2025.

Many people agree with Prewett. They see God doing something special across the nation, using young people to start a bigger revival.

These events are changing students’ lives beyond just one night. Many say they’ve found freedom in Christ, broken free from things holding them back, and really felt God’s love and presence.

A group called Praying For the Next Generation said about the Mississippi State event: “He was there!!! Those voices worshipping!! Like heaven.” You can almost imagine what it must have felt like to be there.

When we hear about these powerful events, it fills us with hope for what God might do next. The excitement and dedication of these college students can inspire believers of all ages. They’re not afraid to gather in large groups, worship openly, and publicly declare their faith. It challenges all of us to live out our beliefs more boldly.

Let’s be encouraged by the faith of this new generation. We should pray for these students, that the fire lit in their hearts during these revival moments would keep burning bright.

May their love for Jesus spread beyond their campuses to families, communities, and nations. As we see God moving so powerfully among young people, let’s pray for an even bigger outpouring of His Spirit, not just on college campuses, but across our whole world.

Verse of the Day

“So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.”
