In Florida, deputies heroically saved a 5-year-old autistic girl lost in a swamp.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office launched a rescue on February 26, 2024. They found the girl using a thermal camera. The rescue video shows deputies gently encouraging her, saying, “Come here, sweetie. Come on, sweetheart.” Another clip shows a deputy comforting her: “Hi, baby girl. Let’s get you out of the water.”
Sheriff Chad Chronister praised his team: “Their quick action saved the day, turning [a] potential tragedy into a hopeful reunion.” This act showcases the importance of community and vigilance.
The girl’s parents were home when she wandered off. No charges were filed.
