Military Parents Returns Home And Surprises Kids At School

Having a dad or mom in the military is tough enough for the family to cope up with, leave alone both parents serving away from the kids for long periods of time.

A military mother and father who were both deployed for over more than a year, surprised their three children at Clay Elementary School during morning assembly.

U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Nicholas McKearn and his wife of 14 years, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Tiffany McKearn, arrived early at the school in uniform, and waited behind the stage’s curtain.

“I think a lot of people take for granted what it’s like to actually hold your kids every night,” Nicholas said while waiting.

This military couple met up in Germany 16 years ago and have three children together, aged 10, six, and 4 who haven’t met their children since last Christmas.

Verse of the Day

“[Psalm 18] For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love you, LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

Psalm 18:1-2
