A doting Military husband from New York spent almost a month planning a secret ‘third’ wedding for his wife where they would renew their vows and say ‘I do’ for the third time to each other.
James Gauthier, 72, from Tonawanda, New York, got married to Lynn, in 1968, when they tied the knot for the first time, then again the next year they followed up with another ceremony in San Antonio Texas
71-year-old Lynn was going to get another shocker when James changed into his Air force attire and popped the question to her again in front of their grandchildren Christopher, 23, Brett, 21, and Cole, 18, who had just passed their online ministry qualifications and presided over the ceremony.
A clip taken from the occasion shows the couple slow dance to the Gibson Brothers’ song ‘Forever Never Ends’, and sure enough there wasn’t a single dry eye in the room during their dance, James said: “My thought was that we only have this occasion once and I didn’t want to look back and think what I should have done. I didn’t want any regrets, so I pulled out all the stops.”
Lynn, said “Jim put on his uniform and it still fit him, then he started dancing with me after the renewal of the vows. I had tears and you can definitely see me crying. It was a wonderful day. He is my love and we had to do something, if we didn’t do anything we would have just been sitting at home.”
