Dying Woman Pleads For Help With Message In A Bottle And It Saves Her Life

Waiting for a kidney transplant could take forever and the costs could go over $400,000, which was way beyond what Joyce Bacon could afford, but she took a very different approach which paid off for her.

Message in a bottle

Joyce Bacon wrote a message and put it in a bottle. She said, “I wrote ‘My name is Joyce Bacon, I’m in need of a kidney transplant, can someone please help me out?’” said Joyce. Joyce bought twelve more bottles, made copies of her dying wish, and threw them into the sea. Six months passed by and suddenly a transplant nurse named Kystel Nava was told somebody had found a bottle with a note inside.

“I received a text message from my friend that had seen that a message in a bottle was found. So she grabbed it, pulled it out, and like all of us, she was captivated by the message and posted it on social media,” Kystel said. The search was on to find Joyce and to grant her wish.

On July 3, 2018, she said, “While everyone else was celebrating the Fourth of July, I was celebrating a new kidney,” said Joyce. She then added, “It was meant to be, there is a purpose for me. There is a purpose and I believe that truly.”

It was indeed a miracle that Joyce’s dying wish was granted and now she is living her best life thanks to the message in the bottle. Joyce tells all those in need of transplants to be creative and find a unique way to get their message out through social media.
