An Alpharetta officer thought he was about to pull over a driver under the influence after he spotted him driving around for hours. But it turned out to be a sweet act of kindness.
Officer Fields met the man during a late-night traffic stop and learned that the driver had advanced Alzheimer’s disease. He had been trying hard to find his way back home for hours. In fact, his residence was actually 50 miles away.
Fields took the time to find out the man’s residential location and helped him get back home safely to his family.
The police department shared the story on their social media account and received many warm responses. Thanks to the officers who go out of their way to help the people in need.
