Lola Sheen, the teenage daughter of actors Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards, recently shared her testimony of finding Jesus Christ and getting baptized after struggling with depression and feeling lost.
Growing up in Hollywood as the daughter of famous parents left Lola feeling constantly alone and anxious. “I grew up with parents who were in the industry, and I always felt super alone my whole life. I just always felt like I could never find security and never find just something that felt like a home,” she shared.
Unlike her older sister Sammy who enjoyed fame, Lola struggled with feeling like an outsider.
At age 16, Lola faced her first serious battle with depression. She started therapy and continued for almost three years, but still couldn’t find lasting peace.
When she turned 18, she hit another severe period of depression. “When I was 18, I was like okay like nothing’s worked. I’ve been in therapy, I feel like I just don’t have anybody,” she revealed. She struggled with feeling insecure and unworthy.
Though raised Catholic, Lola explains there was a big difference in her faith before and after finding Christ. “I grew up Catholic, but I always knew of Jesus. I never knew Him, and that is what changed so much for me when I met Jesus,” she said.
“I feel like there’s a difference of going to church because you have to and then going to church because you know Jesus.”
One night, while battling severe anxiety and unable to sleep, Lola reached her lowest point. She had been having nightmares and dark thoughts, feeling like she didn’t want to live anymore.
The day before, she had watched a Christian influencer on TikTok talking about Jesus. Then around midnight, something extraordinary happened in her room.
“I really don’t know how else to put it except the fact that Jesus came in my room,” she said. “I had never experienced anything like it. His presence came to me… And I felt this overwhelming sense of peace in my room.”
This encounter changed everything for Lola. “It really felt like He took my hand and just said, ‘I am here to rescue you and try this again now with Me.'”
The next morning, Lola searched online for guidance about giving her life to Jesus. She prayed a simple prayer: “Lord, I don’t know what I’m doing, but I know that I just met you, and I want to give my entire life to you.”
This began what she calls an intimate daily journey with Jesus, who became her source of strength when no one else knew her struggles.
Lola’s transformation hasn’t been without challenges. Initially, she felt embarrassed to have her Bible out around her family. Her relatives, who aren’t active believers except for her mom’s Catholic background, sometimes questioned her new faith.
“Whenever I would get judged, I would believe every word people would say,” she reflected. “When I started to realize and really learn more about Jesus, that’s when I learned how to defend myself and knowing that no matter what, we will be persecuted here because Jesus was persecuted, but we should never be discouraged.”
On January 23, Lola shared photos of her baptism on Instagram, making a public declaration of her faith.
Now Lola has launched a podcast called ‘Heavenly Bonded’ and plans to attend Pepperdine University.
Lola’s story reminds us that Jesus meets us exactly where we are, regardless of our background or circumstances.
If you’re struggling with depression or feeling lost today, know that the same Jesus who brought peace to Lola’s room that night is ready to meet you where you are and transform your life too.
