A 3-year-old brought tears to many eyes with his moving performance of the classic hymn ‘Amazing Grace’ on the streets of Santa Monica, California.
‘Amazing Grace’, written in 1772 by John Newton remains one of the most powerful hymns about God’s mercy and forgiveness. Today, on these same streets where this timeless hymn echoes, a young boy and his sister, Karolina Protsenko, performed a sweet rendition of the hymn.
Karolina Protsenko is known for her incredible violin performances and has a massive following on YouTube and social media.
Born in Ukraine on October 3, 2008, she moved to the United States in 2015 and has been sharing her violin music in Santa Monica since 2017.
During one of Karolina’s street performances, her little brother Nicholas made a simple request to sing. The 3-year-old, dressed in a flannel shirt and carpenter pants, stepped up to the stool with childlike confidence.
As Nicholas began to sing his verse and chorus, passersby stopped in their tracks. Young girls watched in wonder, while others reached for their phones to capture this special moment.
Nicholas’ pure voice carried the timeless message of grace through the busy streets. The performance touched not just those present but reached far beyond, drawing 734,000 views on YouTube.
The performance moved many viewers. “This performance brings a tear to one’s eye,” one person shared. Another wrote, “I love how this little boy uses his talents that God gave him and played in front of so many people for His name!”
The Protsenko family is rooted in music. Both parents are musicians, and their children share this beautiful gift. While Karolina has become known for her violin playing, her brothers Nicholas and Leo also show promising musical talents of their own.
God often uses the smallest among us to share His biggest messages. When we watch this little boy singing about God’s amazing grace on a busy street, we see how His truth needs no elaborate presentation.
Through Nicholas’s simple, heartfelt performance, we’re reminded of Jesus’s words about having childlike faith. His pure voice reminds us that sometimes the most powerful messages come wrapped in the smallest packages.
