In a world where people are growing cold towards one another, and have stopped showing kindness, this sweet gesture reminds us of the importance of kindness, and how it will lead to the good of the world.
Dave High, 61, is a regular shop owner who isn’t social media savvy and guess what, he doesn’t even own a cell phone. But it was his 35th business anniversary, and he had no idea that he was just about to get blown away, by a stranger’s act of kindness coupled with the power of social media.
Dave’s health food store is located outdoor at the shopping center in N.W Fresno, California, he was all excited and stacked some yummy cupcakes and beverages for people passing by his shop. But sadly, nobody came in.
It wasn’t until, Kayla Jackson, wife of one of the security guard’s at the shopping center noticed it, while on a break inside Dave’s store. She couldn’t help notice the sad look on Dave’s face while he kept telling her that it was their shop’s 35th anniversary and nobody was entering his store that day.
She decided to do something and started tweeting about Dave celebrating his business’s 35th anniversary and nobody was showing up at the small celebration he had set up inside his store. She even updated his telephone number and shop address on twitter, so that people could show up and give him some recognition.
In a matter of 2 hours, her tweets became viral and people started flooding Dave’s store and his phone did not stop ringing. Dave’s day had been made by Kayla’s selfless act of kindness and am sure he must have had a big smile on his face.
A simple act of kindness goes a long way, so lets start being kind to one another and make the world a better place.
