Church Raises Funds For American Idol Contestant To Make It To Hollywood Week

The country had watched 19-year-old American Idol contestant ‘Kai the Singer’ bring coach Lionel Ritchie to tears during the audition round.

Now as she returns to sing during Hollywood Week, she puts everything on the plate fighting for her spot on the popular singing competition.

Her journey has not been easy till now, as her family of eight have been living in shelters and in their car as well.

It was her church that rallied around her and raised money and even gave Kai a guitar, so that she could compete in American Idol.

Kai says, “Everybody says nothing good comes out of Kingstree. So, when my church raised funds for me to get to the first audition, I was lost for words. They’re amazing people.”

She adds, “Just to have them backing me, it does something to my confidence, actually. Because I’m even smiling more now.” Kai is determined to make them proud and there’s no doubt that the church is cheering for her rendition of “Lost Without You” by Freya Ridings.

Verse of the Day

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Luke 2:8-11
