K-9 Finds Missing 11-Year-Old Girl in Locked Bathroom

A Florida K-9 named Mary Lu successfully found a missing and endangered 11-year-old girl inside a locked bathroom at a park, as stated by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The search began when Deputy Sarah Ernstes and Mary Lu were dispatched to Carlton Lake Drive around 8 p.m. on Friday. After tracking the girl to a neighbor’s house, they learned she had been given a ride to a nearby apartment complex in Wimauma.

Following this lead to a park, Mary Lu alerted deputies to the girl’s presence in a locked bathroom. Deputies convinced the girl to unlock the door, leading to her safe recovery.

“Our team HCSO K9 Unit has once again proven its invaluable role in our community,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. He commended the team for their dedication and for safely reuniting the girl with her family.
