Siblings Sing Beautiful Cover Of ‘Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus’

The Jost siblings, Amy-Joy, Hannah-Grace, and Judah Jost from Alberta, Canada, sing a beautiful cover of “Tis So Sweet.” The classic song was written by Louisa M. Stead in 1882.

Louisa was born in 1850 in Dover, England, and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1871. While attending a camp meeting in Urbana, Ohio, she committed her life to serving as a missionary.

She got married in 1875 and had a little girl, Lily. When Lily was just four years old, her parents took her for a beach picnic at Long Island Sound in New York. While having lunch, they heard a drowning boy cry for help. Mr. Stead jumped into the water to save him, but the struggling boy pulled him under water with him, and both drowned while Louisa and Lily watched. She wrote the song during the next two years as she mourned the loss of her husband and questioned why it happened.

‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His word
Just to rest upon His promise,
Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

It is true that only Jesus can comfort us and give us rest from all our problems and troubles in life. If you are mourning something today, turn it over to Jesus and take comfort from the rest He provides.

Verse of the Day

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Luke 2:8-11
