A young boy who has lived in foster care for years, declared that faith in God has kept him happy.
Texas native, Jonah, 12, has been in foster care for the last four years and longs for a forever family.
He has faith that the perfect family is waiting for him somewhere.
Jonah says that he does not want worldly pleasures like other 12-year-old’s his age, but he values wisdom and knowledge more than anything.
“I am a person who likes to uplift people,” the boy said.
Even after being four years in foster care, he says his Lord is the reason he smiles. “Reason, why I want to be adopted, is because I know there’s a family out there that fits me in the best possible way that they can,” Jonah says.
He is an honor roll student who makes straight A’s, and is extremely focused in school. “I have a desire to have knowledge and wisdom,” he said. “The golden rule is treat somebody the way you would like to be treated, so, that’s what I do — that’s what I try to do, at least, the most.”
Jonah credits God for staying with him throughout his childhood, never leaving him, and bringing him to the place he is now, where he is joyful and is hopeful waiting.
“He’s brought me through many, many things. As far as abuse, before I came into CPS,” Jonah said. “He’s brought me through a lot. Just a lot, overall.”
Jonah has found his being and identity in Christ. “Waking me up this morning, you know what I mean? Starting me on my way. I’m in my right mind. I know what I’m doing, I know who I am, and I’m proud of being the person that I am,” Jonah said.
He is absolutely right in putting his trust in the Lord because even though man will fail us, God can never fail and in Jonah’s case too, God will come through for him and give him a loving and caring family.
Psalm 28:7, “The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.”
