Jesus Is The Way, The Truth, And The Life

Jesus told His disciples repeatedly that He was the way, the truth, and the life. He spent most of His time teaching His disciples truths about heaven and earth and reassured them that it was through Him that they could reach the father’s heart.

John 14:1-6 says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; also believe in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Thomas said, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Verses 6 of this chapter tells us that Jesus is “the way, the truth, and the life.” This is a powerful statement Jesus said to His disciples; based upon this statement, let us understand what Jesus means. “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

1. Jesus is the way

Jesus said the only way to have a relationship with God was through believing in Him. He is the way to the salvation of all men. Acts 4:12

“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”

The only way for us to be saved is through the name of Jesus; there is no other name given among men that can save us from sin but the name of Jesus. Only when you receive salvation can you be called the child of God, and Jesus is the way to the father. Without Him, no one comes to the father.

The first Christians were convinced that Jesus was the only way to know God and taught this truth everywhere, so they were called “Followers of the Christ.” The apostle Paul traveled everywhere preaching that Jesus is the Way to know God, to receive forgiveness for your sins, and the way to live a life that pleases God.

2. Jesus is the Truth.

Jesus is the truth of everything God has made, He was there right from the beginning of creation, and He is the word of God that is made visible to us. John 1:1-4, In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him, all things were made; without Him, nothing was made that has been made.

Jesus is the truth because, through Him, all things were made, and without Him, nothing was made that was made. He is the son of God that was given in ransom for our sins. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him will not die but have everlasting life.”

Matthew 3:17 “A voice from heaven said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased!” The father God confirmed that Jesus is His Son. It helps us understand that Jesus is the true one to lead us into the things God has destined for our lives.

John 1:14 “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. Jesus is the son of God, full of God’s glory, grace, and truth dwelling among us.”

When we know Jesus as the truth and receive Him as our Lord and personal savior, we will be free from our sins. John 8:32 “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

3. Jesus is the Life

Anyone who believes in Jesus has a relationship with God and receives eternal life. Eternal life starts when you believe in Jesus and lasts forever. It can never end, and no one can take it away from you.

Even though your body dies, your soul lives on in heaven, where you will one day receive a brand new body just like Jesus’ new body, which will never die again. That’s eternal life. But, when Jesus said He is the life, He meant even more.

Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

As part of God’s family, God’s Spirit comes to live inside you. God’s Holy Spirit gives you the joyful life of Jesus. God’s Spirit enables you to live a life that pleases God your Father. He changes your thoughts and makes you feel like a brand new child of God.

John 1:4-5 “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Only in Jesus we have life, not only in this world but also in the life to come. Without Jesus, we have no life. We will be dead spiritually and physically. He is the life, and the life we have in Him is the life that lasts forever.

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus gives us His life so that we are completely loved and accepted by God our Father.

Verse of the Day

“Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.””

Luke 2:28-32
