Hero Officer Saves Trapped Little Boy From Being Sucked Into Flooded Culvert

A Jackson police officer hailed as hero for rescuing a 9-year-old boy from flooded culvert.

9-year-old Gavin Moederndorfer-Quella was playing with his friends after a rainstorm when he was pulled by a strong current into a drainage culvert. Other kids called for adults to help. But they couldn’t pull Gavin out of the water due to the strong current.

Officer Kyle Henning was on patrol when spotted the group in distress. He rushed to the scene and joined the rescue mission. The officer laid in the water and grabbed the child in a bear hug. With the help of the bystanders, they pulled Gavin to safety.

Verse of the Day

“[Psalm 18] For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love you, LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

Psalm 18:1-2
