Horatio Spafford wrote ‘It Is Well with My Soul’ in 1873 after losing his four daughters in a shipwreck. Despite his deep loss, he penned words of unwavering faith.

This hymn stands alongside other classics like ‘Amazing Grace,’ ‘How Great Thou Art,’ and ‘Great Is Thy Faithfulness’ that continue to speak truth into our lives.

The service began with soft guitar notes. The piano and other instruments joined in, and the choir’s voices filled the sanctuary.

The entire congregation joined with the choir in worship. People closed their eyes and raised their hands, focusing fully on praising God.

The hymn’s powerful words echoed through the church:

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought
My sin, not in part but the whole
Is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, oh, my soul

These words bring the same hope today that they brought when first written. The familiar melody helped everyone focus on Christ’s sacrifice.

‘It Is Well’ speaks to every situation we face. Whether dealing with hardship or celebrating joy, God’s peace flows through these words. Both young and old find strength in its message.

The unified singing showed how music brings believers together. The Holy Spirit’s presence was clear as voices joined in praise.

The song touched each person differently. Some found comfort, others gained strength, and many simply enjoyed praising God. These hymns meet us right where we need them.

Peace filled the sanctuary as the last notes faded. Everyone felt refreshed from singing truth together. It proved why gathering to worship matters and how music draws us closer to God.

Let’s carry these words with us daily. When life grows difficult or uncertain, we can still say “it is well with my soul” because Jesus gives us peace. He remains faithful through every storm and joy.

We thank God for being our strength when life shakes us. Each day we can trust Him more. These hymns build our faith and fill our hearts with praise for our faithful God.

Verse of the Day

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Luke 2:8-11
