Innocent Masuku, a talented South African opera singer, recently delivered an unforgettable performance on Britain’s Got Talent that left the judges and audience in awe.
Despite being discouraged from pursuing opera in the past, Masuku did not let negativity deter his spirit. His background includes notable performances such as Crabman in “Porgy and Bess” in Argentina and appearances in major productions like “Carmen” at the London Coliseum.
His talent has earned him several awards, including a Merit award from the 2019 SAMRO competition and support from The Tillet Trust fund.
During his audition, Masuku performed Lucio Dalla’s “Caruso,” earning high praise from all four judges. Amanda Holden, visibly moved by his performance, declared him “by far the best opera singer we have ever had on this show,” a significant compliment, especially considering past talents like Paul Potts and Susan Boyle.
However, despite his stellar performance, Masuku did not receive a Golden Buzzer, which would have secured him a place in the semi-finals. This decision sparked discussions and disappointment among fans on social media, with many feeling that he was unfairly overlooked.
