The lyrics and music of this classic hymn are by Thomas Laney who was born in 1878 and the song was published in 1917, he passed away in the year 1953.

Tis a sweet and glorious tho’t that comes to me,
I’ll live on, yes, I’ll live on;
Jesus saved my soul from death, and now I’m free,
I’ll live on, yes, I’ll live on.

The hymn points out that the hope of the Christian, here in the world and in eternity, is to live with Christ.

I’ll live on, yes, I’ll live on.
Thru eternity I’ll live on;
I’ll live on, yes, I’ll live on,
Thru eternity I’ll live on.

As we listen to Acapeldridge singing this dear hymn today we are reminded that even though we will die one day and all the things in the world will come to an end, the righteous will live for eternity because Jesus died for our sins and redeemed us.

Verse of the Day

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Luke 2:8-11
